Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi Visits Lesotho

From July 5 to 6, 2023, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi visited Lesotho, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, and met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Mpotjoane Lejone. Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho Lei Kezhong attended relevant events.

Liu Yuxi said that China and Lesotho are good brothers, good friends, and good partners. The two countries have long-term friendly relations, and cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful outcomes. The new achievements in Chinese modernization will provide new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations, and China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with Lesotho on governance experience, deepen friendly cooperation, and jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane welcomed the delegation of the Chinese government to visit Lesotho, and said that the government of Lesotho will firmly support the one-China principle, support China's complete reunification and national rejuvenation, and stands ready to deepen cooperation with China in various fields including energy, agriculture and transportation, and strengthen coordination and cooperation on international and regional affairs.

Mpotjoane Lejone spoke highly of bilateral relations and the cooperation outcomes in various fields, and said that Lesotho stands ready to enhance friendly interactions with China, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and make contributions to the well-being of the people as well as world peace and development.
