Liberian President Elien Johnson-Sirleaf Meets with President Hu Jintao's Special Envoy

On January 17, 2012, Liberian President Elien Johnson-Sirleaf met with Yin Weimin, the special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao and Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, in Monrovia. The Chinese special envoy was here for the inauguration ceremony of President Johnson-Sirleaf.

President Johnson-Sirleaf thanked President Hu for sending a special envoy to her inauguration ceremony and asked Yin to convey her cordial greetings to President Hu. She said relations with China are strong and important and bilateral pragmatic cooperation in all areas has been fruitful and beneficial to the Liberian people. She said China has become an important cooperative partner of her country and Liberia's economic development and social stability would not have been possible without the help of China. She added that her government would like to further promote bilateral cooperation.

Yin conveyed warm congratulations and greetings of President Hu for Johnson-Sirleaf. China-Liberia cooperative relations have entered a new stage of comprehensive, fast and in-depth development, Yin said. Further consolidating and developing China-Liberia friendly cooperation conforms to the fundamental interests and aspirations of both peoples. Yin expressed hope that China would like to work with Liberia to further promote bilateral exchanges and political trust and continuously enrich pragmatic cooperation in various forms to push China-Liberia friendly ties to a higher level.

On January 16, Yin Weimin attended the inauguration ceremony of President Johnson-Sirleaf. Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Zhao Jianhua attended the above meeting and the inauguration ceremony of the Liberian President.
