On July 17, 2012, Tang Jiaxuan met in Zhongnanhai with the former Foreign Minister of Madagascar Lila Ratsifandrihamanana. The two sides mainly exchanged views on China-Africa and China-Madagascar relations and recalled the pleasant memory of jointly initiating the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in 1999 and attending the first Ministerial Meeting of FOCAC in 2000. They also shared views on other issues of common concern.

Lila was invited by the WWF to China to attend the seminar on China-Africa cooperation for green economy.
