Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Roger Kolo of Madagascar

On the afternoon of August 28, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met in Nanjing with Prime Minister Roger Kolo of Madagascar, who came to China to attend the closing ceremony of the second Summer Youth Olympic Games.

Li Keqiang said that China and Madagascar share profound traditional friendship and the bilateral relations have always enjoyed sound and stable development. The Chinese side is ready to consolidate mutual trust with the Malagasy side, to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, animal husbandry and fishery, human resource development, poverty reduction and other fields with the Malagasy side, so as to constantly improve the level of the bilateral relations and cooperation.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the Chinese side supports the Malagasy side to construct special economic zones, industrial parks, as well as transportation, communications and other infrastructure, and will help the Malagasy side to enhance self-development capability. Madagascar is one of the African countries that have the biggest Chinese community. The Chinese community lives in harmony with the local people and shares weal and woe with them and I hope that the Malagasy side will provide the Chinese community with convenience in work and life.

Kolo said that the Malagasy people have brotherly friendship towards the Chinese people. The Malagasy side is looking forward to strengthening friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields. The Chinese community and businesses have made a positive contribution to the economic and social development of Madagascar and the Malagasy side will provide convenience and assistance for them in their work and life.
