Li Keqiang Welcomes International Distinguished Guests Attending the Closing Ceremony of the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games

On August 28, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang hosted a banquet in Nanjing, welcoming international distinguished guests who attended the closing ceremony of the second Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG). President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, Honorary President of the IOC Jacques Rogge, Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda, Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed of Djibouti, Prime Minister Kolo Roger of Madagascar, Parliament Speaker Josip Leko of Croatia and others attended the event.

In his speech, Li Keqiang, on behalf of the Chinese government, thanked the IOC and the international Olympic community for their support, coordination and assistance to the Nanjing YOG and congratulated athletes from different countries and regions on excellent results.

Li Keqiang expressed that in the spirit of the YOG, athletes from different countries and regions created impressive sport games results inside arena and shared abundant multi-cultural achievements outside arena, which greatly promotes the development of the Olympic Movement, fully embodies the Olympic spirit of "unity, friendship and peace" and builds the bridge for communication and the platform for exchanges. Adolescents from different countries and regions have stayed together day and night, learned from each other, deepened understanding, shared knowledge and harvested friendship.

Li Keqiang stressed that all the activities of the 12-day Nanjing YOG fully achieved the slogan of the YOG, "Share the Games, Share Our Dreams". Youth and future brought by the Nanjing YOG belong to the athletes competing fiercely in the arena, to all the volunteers who provided service diligently and to friends from the five continents who participated in the Nanjing YOG in various ways.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the success of the Nanjing YOG will more powerfully promote the communication and cooperation between Chinese youth and those from the rest of the world, more vastly promote the understanding and friendship between Chinese people and people from all over the world and more deeply promote the building of a harmonious world featuring lasting peace and common prosperity. We should make joint efforts to make youth more brilliant and the world more beautiful.
