The 123 athletes of the Chinese sports delegation have performed extraordinarily in this YOG. They have won 37 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 12 bronze medals on the field, and participated in 20 cultural and educational activities organized by the Organizing Committee off the field, imperceptibly deepening their understanding and awareness of history and modernity as well as of life and the world.

This evening, the stadium of Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre, with glittering light and color as well as songs and dances, is filled with strong emotions and best wishes. Young athletes from all over the world gather here to share and enjoy their evening of YOG.

At 19:58, with cheerful music, Li Keqiang and President Thomas Bach of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) walked onto the rostrum, waving to the audience.

The on-site big screen showed the video clips of marvelous and impressive moments in the Nanjing YOG. With the sound of music, the whole audience counted down seconds together with the digital countdown on the screen: ten, nine, eight, seven, six…With shouts of jubilation accompanied by colorful fireworks rising and dazzling in the sky, the closing ceremony of the Nanjing YOG officially began.

Bundles of light lit up the "World Youth Glory Matrix" opposite the platform, and the on-site audience applauded and cheered to pay tribute to the youth athletes from various countries and regions.

With the melody of "Ode to the Motherland", eight guards of honor holding the national flag of the People's Republic of China entered the site with firm steps. In the melody of the magnificent national anthem of the People's Republic of China, the bright five-star red flag rose.

At 20:06, the athletes' entrance began. The Olympic Committee's concierge flags and athlete representatives from 203 countries and regions as well as independent Olympic athletes marched into the arena.

Six representatives of volunteers walked onto the stage and accepted flowers from the representatives of outstanding youth athletes, which brought warm applauses from the whole audience. During the period of the Nanjing YOG, 20,000 Games-time volunteers and hundreds of thousands of city volunteers have shown sincere dedication and provided high-quality service, winning widespread praise. The IOC thus decided to arrange this section at the closing ceremony to express sincere thanks to all the volunteers.

The farewell music was on, and a crowd of youths entered the arena, pulling the balloons in the shape of "Lele", the mascot of the Nanjing YOG, at the bottom of which hung the paintings drawn by teenagers and children in Nanjing.
