On December 5, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Andry Nirina Rajoelina on his re-election as President of the Republic of Madagascar.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Madagascar enjoy a traditional friendship. Xi Jinping said that in recent years, under their joint guidance, relations between the two countries have advanced fast, exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results, and the two sides have firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Madagascar relations, and stands ready to work with President Andry Nirina Rajoelina to push for greater development of the China-Madagascar comprehensive cooperative partnership so as to better benefit the people of the two countries.
