Special Envoy of Foreign Ministry to Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Liu Guijin Visits Mauritius

From June 4 to 6, 2015, Special Envoy of the Foreign Ministry to the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Liu Guijin visited Mauritius. During the visit, Special Envoy Liu Guijin met with newly-inaugurated President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth and Acting Foreign Minister Anil Gayan of Mauritius respectively, exchanging views on the bilateral relations, the FOCAC and other topics. H.E. Li Li, Chinese Ambassador to Mauritius, was present at the meetings.

Special envoy Liu Guijin said that China and Mauritius enjoy a long history of friendship. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, the two countries have always respected each other and treated each other as equals, with the friendly cooperation being deepened continuously. At present, China is at a critical period of comprehensively deepening reforms, and Mauritius has also shaped the ambitious goal of achieving the "Second Economic Miracle". China is willing to join efforts with Mauritius to closely combine the development objectives of the two countries, push forward practical cooperation in areas such as aviation, finance, judicature and e-commerce, continuously expand the areas of cooperation and enhance the level of cooperation.

Special Envoy Liu Guijin introduced the preparations for the sixth ministerial meeting of the FOCAC, and said that the FOCAC is an important platform of the collective dialogues and cooperation between China and Africa. Within the framework of the FOCAC, China is willing to carry out political measures for Africa which will meet Africa's development needs and strive to make every member of the FOCAC benefit from the measures. China hopes that Mauritius will actively participate in affairs of the FOCAC and fully share the outcomes of the FOCAC.

The Mauritian side said that whether in the anti-imperialist and anti-colonialist struggles or in the economic and social development, China always stands with the African countries including Mauritius, and China is a good and trustworthy friend and partner. The recent years have witnessed frequent high-level exchanges and fruitful cooperation in various fields between China and Mauritius, which Mauritius is satisfied with. Mauritius is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, tourism, health care, science, education and human resources training, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to actively invest and develop in Mauritius. The FOCAC has played a prominent role for the stability and development of Africa. Mauritius will continue to support the development of the FOCAC and deepen cooperation with China within the framework of the FOCAC, and at the same time, looks forward to a greater influence of China in Africa and a greater role of China in safeguarding peace and security and promoting development and prosperity of Africa.
