On April 11, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong attended upon invitation the national day reception of Mauritius held by the Mauritian Embassy in China and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Chen Xiaodong congratulated Mauritius on the national day, saying that China and Mauritius enjoy a long history of friendship. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Mauritian side to actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries last year, push for better implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa cooperation in Mauritius and constantly write new chapters of China-Mauritius friendly cooperation.

Chen Xiaodong also exchanged views with Mauritian Ambassador to China Miao Kwong Lee Hon Chong on China-Mauritius relations and other topics.
