Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu Meets with Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula

On April 3, 2012, Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met with Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula in Windhoek.

Hui Liangyu first conveyed the cordial greetings and good wishes of Premier Wen Jiabao to Prime Minister Angula. He said that China and Namibia are good friends treating each other with sincerity and good partners enjoying mutually-beneficial cooperation. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 22 years ago, the bilateral political mutual trust has been deepening and the bilateral cooperation in various fields has achieved remarkable results. In recent years, the bilateral exchange and cooperation in a wide range of areas including education, culture, science & technology and youth exchange have moved a new step forward.

Hui Liangyu said that the two countries have shown each other understanding and have been working closely with each other while dealing with issues involving each other's core and major interests. The friendship between the two peoples has been deepened. China is willing to make joint efforts with Namibia to continue to respect each other's concerns and accelerate the ongoing projects in the principle of equality, mutual benefit and common development. China is willing to make joint efforts with Namibia to keep improving the investment and financing cooperation and actively expand agricultural cooperation so as to leverage the complementary advantages of the two countries and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Prime Minister Angula asked Hui Liangyu to convey his cordial greetings and good wishes to Premier Wen Jiabao. He said that Namibia and China share a profound traditional friendship and Namibia will never forget the firm support rendered by the Chinese people to the Namibia in the struggle for freedom and liberation. At present, Namibia regards economic development as the direction for national efforts. Trade and export is an important factor In the Namibian economy, which affects the overall economy. Namibia hopes to raise the overall level of cooperation with China through investment, trade, technological exchange, and other ways and give full play to the respective advantages of the two sides. Namibia hopes that both parties pay attention to the rational concerns of each other so as to really fulfill the goal of working together for common progress and achieving mutual benefits and win-win results. Angula said that Hui's visit will become a strong driving force pushing the bilateral pragmatic cooperation forward.

Hui Liangyu introduced China's current economic and social development. The two sides also exchanged views on some specific issues in bilateral cooperation.

During the visit, Hui Liangyu made a special trip to China Space Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) Station located in Erongo to visit the Chinese engineering and technical personnel in the station.
