Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia

On Sept. 23, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at the UN headquarters, New York with Foreign Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia.

Wang Yi expressed that over the 23 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, bilateral relations have always maintained a sound growth momentum. Both sides have always been equal and frank to each other and have forged a profound friendship. China and Namibia enjoy frequent high-level exchanges, increasing political mutual trust, as well as close coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs. They support each other on issues concerning core interests. Practical cooperation has frequently yielded good outcomes.

Wang Yi said that China-Namibia relations are now facing historic opportunities of moving ahead on a higher level, in a larger scope and in a wider area. Both sides should join hands vigorously carrying forward the traditional friendship, continue to keep close exchanges and dialogue in all fields and at various levels, earnestly advance practical cooperation in the extensive fields such as mineral development, infrastructure construction, agriculture and fishery, keep expanding people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to unceasingly enrich the connotations of China-Namibia friendly cooperative relations and to bring more benefits to both peoples.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed that China and Namibia enjoy a profound traditional friendship. The Namibian side attaches importance to developing relations with China and is grateful for China's outstanding contributions to the development of Africa.
