Wang Yi Meets with Former President Sam Nujoma of Namibia

On February 5, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with former President Sam Nujoma of Namibia in Windhoek.

Wang Yi said that former President Sam Nujoma, as one of the founders for the China-Namibia and China-Africa friendship, has made significant contributions to the development of China-Namibia and China-Africa relations and China highly appreciates his contributions.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping put forward the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans at the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which focus on helping Africa accelerate industrialization process and build up its self-development capacity. China and Namibia have identified the direction and major fields of the mutually beneficial cooperation in the future and stand ready to convert the ten major plans into concrete actions in China-Namibia cooperation as soon as possible.

Sam Nujoma said that China gets along well with Namibia and other African countries as a family. China has been providing selfless support to African countries for their just causes and its economic assistance to Africa in the new era will help Africa further enhance its independence and reduce its external dependence. The African continent is deeply inspired by the achievements of the Summit of the FOCAC in Johannesburg and all the African countries including Namibia are looking forward to conducting in-depth and mutually beneficial cooperation with China to realize the new development of Africa.
