2016-02-06 09:55

On February 5, 2016 local time, President Hage Geingob of Namibia met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Presidential Palace in Windhoek

Hage Geingob said that China had shared weal and woe with Namibia during Namibia's struggle for national independence and that the two countries have forged a profound friendship. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, both sides have always treated each other as equals and respected each other. He held an important meeting with President Xi Jinping during the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and reached extensive consensus on developing Namibia-China relations. Namibia is currently formulating a comprehensive plan in accordance with Xi Jinping's ten major China-Africa cooperation plans proposed during the Summit so as to promote Namibia's economic and social development. He welcomes China to invest in Namibia to help Namibia accelerate the processes of industrialization and agricultural modernization, increase local employment and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

Wang Yi said that China-Namibia relations have withstood the test of time and changes in the international situation, and that China and Namibia are good friends and good partners. The ten major China-Africa cooperation plans proposed by President Xi Jinping are meant to help Africa improve self-development capacity and achieve diversified development. Within the context of the current global economic downturn, the implementation of the ten major plans is particularly urgent and important. China will continually stick to the right views on righteousness and benefit in this cooperation, give priority to the needs of Namibia and Africa, and help Namibia and Africa gain more benefits at an early date. China is willing to convert the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans into China-Namibia bilateral specific actions, transform the traditional bilateral friendship into the fruits of mutually beneficial cooperation, and carry out mutually beneficial cooperation in fields such as infrastructure construction, human resources development, marine economy, port-neighboring industrial parks, animal husbandry, fishery, mining industry, processing industry, poverty reduction and people's welfare, and eventually achieve common development.
