On April 11, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia, who was paying an official visit to China.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Namibia enjoy a profound traditional friendship featuring sincerity, amity, equal treatment, mutual trust, win-win cooperation and common development. Both sides understand and support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, which safeguards the common interests of both countries and developing countries. China is willing to, together with Namibia, take the implementation of the important consensus reached by leaders of both countries and outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as mainlines, mainly deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in marine economy, agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery, processing and manufacturing industry, infrastructure, human resource development and other prior fields, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and intensify coordination in international and regional affairs, so as to push for the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.

Appreciating China's strong support and selfless assistance to the country since its struggle for the national independence, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah reiterated that Namibia attaches great importance to developing its relations with China, hopes to comprehensively deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields with China, and expects to benefit more from the implementation of outcomes of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit. The country welcomes Chinese enterprises including private enterprises to invest and establish business in Namibia as well as participating in the country's construction.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern, reaching extensive consensus.
