Wang Yi Meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia

On September 19, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia during his attendance at the UN General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi expressed that China-Namibia friendship has withstood the test of time, wind and rain, and both sides have always understood and supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests. China stands ready to work together with Namibia to carry forward bilateral traditional friendship. When engaging with African countries, China has always adhered to equity despite different territorial sizes and devoted to implementing the values of friendship, justice and shared interests proposed by President Xi Jinping. China is willing to, together with Namibia, further enhance high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, well implement all the relevant projects under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and provide support and assistance for Namibia to realize agricultural modernization and industrialization.

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said that Namibia cherishes its traditional friendship with China and thanks China for providing long-term assistance for the development of Namibia, especially for providing prompt aid to mitigate drought in Namibia in recent years. Namibia is ready to maintain close exchanges with China to consolidate mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries as well as the two peoples, continuously and actively participate in the cooperation under the FOCAC framework, deepen cooperation with China in economy, trade and other fields and push forward Namibia-China relations for constant development, so as to better benefit the two peoples.
