On March 16, 2005, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration of Niger delivered a note to the Chinese Embassy In Niger, expressing supports to the adoption of the Anti-Secession Law by the National People's Congress (NPC) of China.
The note reaffirmed that the Nigerian government holds a consistent position on the Taiwan issue. It pointed out, "Niger recognizes only one China and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory."
