Wang Yi Holds Talks with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bazoum Mohamed of Niger

On February 3, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bazoum Mohamed of Niger, who was in China for an official visit.

Wang Yi expressed that in recent years, China and Niger have achieved leap-frog development in the friendly cooperative relations and their development strategies are highly complementary. The cooperation and development of the two countries have their own needs and advantages, serving as each other's opportunities. China will work with Niger to further deepen bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in such fields as political mutual trust, energy resources, agriculture, animal husbandry, infrastructure as well as people-to-people and cultural engagement, and translate the advantage of bilateral traditional friendship into driving force for cooperation and development, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Bazoum Mohamed said that Niger-China relations are of strategic significance. Bilateral cooperation covers all the aspects in politics, economy and society, and its scale and range is unique in Niger's foreign cooperation. Niger attaches great importance to developing its relations with China and wholeheartedly thanks the large number of selfless assistance offered by China for Niger's economic and social development. Niger is willing to join efforts with China to continue intensifying bilateral cooperation in all fields, facilitating personnel exchanges and promoting bilateral relations to new highs.

Following the talks, Wang Yi and Bazoum Mohamed together signed the agreement on the establishment of consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries.
