Hui Liangyu Meets with Foreign Minister of Rwanda Mushikiwabo

On May 23, 2012, Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met with visiting Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo at the Great Hall of the People.

Hui said China and Rwanda have a profound traditional friendship and bilateral ties have enjoyed healthy development. In recent years, the friendly exchanges between the two countries at all levels have been more close, with increasing political mutual trust, deepening cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade and humanities and sound communication and coordination in international affairs. China is willing to work with Rwanda to further strengthen their cooperation in bilateral and international affairs so as to push the friendly cooperative relations to a higher level.

Hui said deepening pragmatic cooperation between the two countries has a sound basis. He called on the two states to tap potential for substantial and reciprocal cooperation with a long-term perspective and innovation.

Mushikiwabo said the two countries have been developing friendly ties based on mutual respect. She appreciated China's great support and assistance for Rwanda's economic and social reconstruction, noting the country will stick to the one-China policy and serve as a bridge for China's cooperation with Eastern and Central African nations.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was present at the meeting.
