On November 4, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo of Rwanda, who was in China for the Munich Security Conference Core Group Meeting.

Zhang Yesui said that with joint efforts of both sides, bilateral relationship has achieved substantial development in recent years. China is willing to further expand cooperation in various fields with Rwanda, including enhancing cooperation in such areas as industrialization, agricultural modernization, infrastructure construction, peace and security under the framework of "ten major cooperation plans" proposed at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Louise Mushikiwabo thanked China for the long-term and selfless support and assistance to Rwanda and Africa, and expressed that Rwanda is willing to conduct closer communication and coordination and strengthen cooperation in bilateral as well as international affairs with the Chinese side.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional topics of common interest.
