Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Visits Rwanda

From June 24 to 26, 2017, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu visited Rwanda. Xu Jinghu met with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo of Rwanda, exchanging in-depth views on the development of China-Rwanda relations. H.E. Rao Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda was present.

Special Envoy Xu Jinghu said that since the establishment of China-Rwanda diplomatic relations 46 years ago, bilateral relations have enjoyed sustained, sound and smooth development. During President Raul Kagame's visit to China this March, President Xi Jinping and President Raul Kagame reached important consensus on the future development of bilateral relations. China is willing to, together with Rwanda, intensify coordination, earnestly implement the consensus reached at the meeting between the two heads of state, and deepen bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields, so as to make China-Rwanda relations better benefit the two peoples.

President Paul Kagame and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo noted that Rwanda attaches great importance to developing its relations with China. Since the meeting between the two heads of state this March, bilateral relations have seen a sound momentum of rapid development. The country stands ready to enhance cooperation in industrialization, energy resource exploration, infrastructure construction, tourism, agriculture and other fields with China, so as to push bilateral relations for more tangible results.
