President Paul Kagame of Rwanda Meets with President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy Liu Xiaofeng

On August 20, 2017, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda met with special envoy of President Xi Jinping and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Liu Xiaofeng at the Office of the President in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

Liu Xiaofeng conveyed President Xi Jinping’s warm congratulations and best wishes to Paul Kagame, and expressed that China-Rwanda relations have always been enjoying stable and sound development since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations 46 years ago. During Your Excellency President’s visit to China this March, the two heads of state reached the important consensus on deepening China-Rwanda cooperation in various fields, which charts the course for the future development of bilateral relations. China is willing to make joint efforts with Rwanda to further enhance political mutual trust, expand economic and trade cooperation, consolidate friendship between the two peoples, and transfer China-Rwanda friendship into outcomes that benefit the two peoples on the basis of the consensus between the two heads of state, so as to achieve mutual benefit, win-win results and common development.

Paul Kagame thanked President Xi Jinping for sending a special envoy to attend his inauguration ceremony and asked the special envoy to convey his sincere gratitude and warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. Paul Kagame expressed that Rwanda and China enjoy a time-honored friendship and achieve fruitful outcomes from bilateral cooperation in various fields. As a sincere partner of Africa's development, China has provided numerous support and assistance to African countries, including Rwanda for a long term. The country stands ready to comprehensively deepen friendly cooperation in various fields with China, in a bid to elevate Rwanda-China relations to a new stage.
