Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong Holds Talks with Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community Olivier Nduhungirehe of Rwanda

On July 5, 2018, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong held talks with visiting Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community Olivier Nduhungirehe of Rwanda.

Chen Xiaodong expressed that the relations between China and Rwanda have enjoyed smooth development since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations 47 years ago. The Chinese side is willing to, together with Rwanda, jointly well implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, increase political mutual trust, and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to elevate bilateral friendly cooperative relations to a new stage. China will enhance communication and coordination with African countries including Rwanda to make the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held this September another historic event that will strengthen China-Africa solidarity and cooperation.

Olivier Nduhungirehe expressed that Rwanda treasures its traditional friendship with China, and thanks China's long-term and precious support for its economic and social development. Rwanda stands ready to, together with China, enhance bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation in various fields, so as to promote Rwanda-China relations for constant and forward-looking development. The country will actively participate in the FOCAC Beijing Summit.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
