Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Meets with Foreign Minister Richard Sezibera of Rwanda

On January 14, 2019, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu, who was on a friendly visit to Rwanda, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Richard Sezibera of Rwanda in Kigali. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on China-Rwanda relations, implementation of the results of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and issues of common concern. H.E. Rao Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, attended the meeting.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu said that in recent years, under the care and promotion of President Xi Jinping and President Paul Kagame, China-Rwanda relations have entered a fast lane of rapid development and are at the best period in history. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Rwandan side to take implementation of the consensus reached at the meeting between the two heads of state as the mainline and implementation of the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit as the handle to work together to continuously push China-Rwanda relations to new stages.

Richard Sezibera congratulated on the complete success of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and thanked the Chinese side for its long-term assistance and support to the Rwandan side. Richard Sezibera said that the Rwandan side is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges, and deepen bilateral cooperation in investment, aviation, people-to-people and cultural engagement and tourism with the Chinese side to push more implementation of the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit in Rwanda.
