On April 27, 2021, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng held a dialogue on China-Africa relations with some Beijing-based Chinese and foreign scholars of African studies. Experts and scholars from Burundi, Cameroon, Rwanda, Uganda and the United Kingdom, as well as the Center for African Studies of Peking University and the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences attended the meeting.

Wu Peng mainly introduced China's African policy and the achievements of China-Africa cooperation, especially the latest progress of China-Africa Belt and Road cooperation, elaborated on China's stance on international cooperation for the benefit of Africa, and pointed out that China and Africa are overcoming the disruptions of COVID-19 to actively prepare for a new session of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He hopes the scholars to actively contribute their views and suggestions in a bid to jointly promote greater development of China-Africa relations and cause the international community to look at China-Africa cooperation objectively and fairly. Vice Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Guo Haiyan and an official from the Ministry of Commerce introduced China's African investment and financing policies and cooperation achievements with Africa, as well as China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, respectively.

The scholars talked about their views on China-Africa relations in the light of their own experiences, spoke positively of the achievements of China-Africa cooperation and China's important contributions to the economic and social development of Africa. They expect success in the new session of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening China-Africa cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, press, youth and digital economy, as well as strengthening exchanges among entrepreneurs and non-governmental organizations.
