Wang Yi: Chinese Personnel Fighting Against the Ebola Epidemic in Africa Deserve the Title of Excellent Sons and Daughters of the Chinese Nation

On August 8 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was on a visit to Sierra Leone, visited and expressed regards to the personnel of Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, the Chinese medical team as well as the personnel of China-funded enterprises in Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone.

Wang Yi noted that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council pay high attention to all the personnel standing at the forefront of the fight against the Ebola epidemic in Africa and the people in the homeland also are concerned about them. Since last year, facing with the Ebola epidemic which appeared overnight, the ever-changing and complicated environment and even the test of life, all the Chinese personnel chose to hold fast at their posts, take their responsibilities and devote to the cause in fighting against the Ebola. All the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone gave up their holidays voluntarily, ensuring an in-time delivery of the relief supplies and aiding personnel. The medical team headed to the forefront where the epidemic severely struck, fighting against the epidemic with local people. Numerous enterprises made donations to practice their social responsibilities. All the comrades participating in the fight against the epidemic fulfilled their missions perfectly and withstood the severe tests. All those personnel deserve to be revered as excellent sons and daughters of the Chinese nation and excellent group of the diplomatic front.

Wang Yi expressed that the work in the "Post-Ebola Era" will be more arduous. It is hoped that all the personnel could unite together to make new contributions, so as to deepen friendly affections between Chinese and African people, build a sound image for China, expand China's influence in Africa and consolidate the foundation of China's diplomacy.
