Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Samura Kamara of Sierra Leone

On June 15, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Samura Kamara of Sierra Leone, who was paying an official visit to China.

Wang Yi expressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago, China-Sierra Leone relations have withstood the test of vicissitudes in the international situation. Now bilateral relations are at the best period in history. China is willing to take the implementation of outcomes from the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as an opportunity to actively participate in the post-epidemic economic and social reconstruction process of Sierra Leone and deepen bilateral cooperation in various areas in a comprehensive manner.

Samura Kamara noted that Sierra Leone appreciates China’s long-term and selfless support and assistance in economic and social development of Sierra Leone as well as in helping Sierra Leone cope with the Ebola outbreak. He reiterated that Sierra Leone will continue to uphold the One-China policy on the Taiwan issue, and the country understands and supports China’s stance on the South China Sea issue.
