China appreciates the Togolese government and parliament for resolutely pursuing the one-China policy. China will remain a reliable and sincere friend of the Togolese people forever and jointly push bilateral friendly cooperative relations for new development.

Wu noted that the exchanges between the two legislatures are an important part of bilateral relations. The NPC of China has always maintained friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Togolese parliament and has played an important role in building up mutual understanding between the two peoples and consolidating bilateral traditional friendship. The NPC of China would like to strengthen exchanges with the Togolese parliament and hopes that both sides will learn from each other's state governing experience in advancing democracy and building the legal system, keep closer consultations and cooperation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other international occasions and make new contributions to promoting all-round and in-depth development of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Wen said that the bilateral friendship was jointly created by the older generations of leaderships of the two countries and such special relations will become even closer as time goes by. HE the President has indicated on many occasions that he adhered to the one-China policy and hoped to continue deepening bilateral friendship and cooperation, which China appreciates. China cherishes bilateral relations and would like to further strengthen mutual political trust with Togo, keep closer economic and technological cooperation, expand trade scale and realize mutual benefits and common development.

Wen said that both China and African countries are developing nations and to strengthen China-Africa friendship and economic ties not only conforms to common needs of both sides, but also is of great strategic significance to South-South cooperation and poverty elimination. Although China is still not rich, it will seriously fulfill its solemn commitments and continue to offer economic assistance within its available resources to African nations including Togo.

Faure indicated that Togo will continue to resolutely adopt the one-China policy, support strengthened exchanges between the two parliaments, expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy & trade, telecommunications and investment and enhance coordination in international affairs.
