On September 19, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun was invited to a reception marking the 40th anniversary of China-Togo diplomatic ties held by Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Zhai exchanged views with Nolana Ta Ama, Togolese ambassador to China on bilateral ties and other issues.

An unveiling ceremony for commemorative envelopes marking the 40th anniversary of China-Togo diplomatic ties was also held at the reception.
