Li Keqiang Meets Respectively with President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo and Prime Minister Moussa Mara of Mali

On May 7, 2014, during his visit in Nigeria, Premier Li Keqiang met respectively with President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo and Prime Minister Moussa Mara of Mali in Abuja, who were attending the Plenary Session of the 24th World Economic Forum on Africa.

In his meeting with Faure Gnassingbe, Li Keqiang expressed that China-Togo friendship is the valuable asset created by the state leaders of the older generation of the two countries. The Chinese side stands ready to join hands with the Togolese side to carry forward the traditional friendship, to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction and other area, to build the West African hub of transportation, commerce, trade and logistics, so as to promote bilateral relations to new highs.

Li Keqiang pointed out, the overall situation of peace and stability in Africa now remains consolidating, while the non-traditional security challenges standing out. The Chinese side is willing to work together with African countries including Togo, to strengthen cooperation in anti-terrorism and combating transnational organized crimes so as to create a peaceful and stable environment for development.

Faure Gnassingbe expressed that Togo and China enjoy profound traditional friendship and a solid foundation and broad prospects for the bilateral relations. The Togolese side is willing to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields so as to achieve greater development in bilateral relations. African countries appreciate the important role China has played in peace and development of Africa and agree with Premier Li Keqiang on his proposal for the Africa-China Cooperation Framework raised in his speech at the African Union (AU) headquarters. They stand ready to work together with the Chinese side, keeping pace with the times, to promote the Africa-China strategic partnership.

In his meeting with Mara, Li Keqiang expressed that Mali is an old friend and a good partner of China in Africa. The Chinese side firmly supports Mali for its efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. China will, as always, along with the international community, to play a positive role in achieving lasting peace and development in Mali. The Chinese side stands ready to strengthen cooperation with Mali in the fields of agriculture, electric power, infrastructure, information and communication, to expand areas of cooperation, to innovate modes of cooperation and to improve the level of cooperation, so as to achieve common development, mutual benefit and win-win results.

Mara expressed that Mali and China boast a brotherhood friendship and have carried out fruitful cooperation. The Malian side highly appreciates the "461" Africa-China Cooperation Framework that Premier Li Keqiang proposed in his speech at the AU headquarters, and is willing to try to translate it into tangible results so as to benefit both the African side and the Chinese side.
