President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo Meets with Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui

On June 15, 2017, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé met with visiting Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

Zhang Yesui expressed that China and Togo enjoy a profound traditional friendship, and bilateral relations are a model of sincere friendship, equal treatment, mutual trust, mutual benefit and win-win results among big and small countries. China is willing to, together with Togo, take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations as an opportunity and under the frameworks of China-Africa ten major cooperation plans and the "Belt and Road" initiative, make full use of the two big advantages of bilateral political mutual trust and economic complementarities, and help Togo develop the three pillar industries of agriculture, processing and manufacturing industries and port-neighboring economy, in a bid to achieve independent and sustainable development.

President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé thanked China for its long-term and strong support to Togo's economic and social development, and expressed that the country stands ready to make joint efforts with China to seize the two big opportunities of the implementation of China-Africa ten major cooperation plans and the "Belt and Road" cooperation, further consolidate traditional friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade, intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and enhance cooperation in security, so as to better benefit the two countries and the two peoples.

On June 14, Zhang Yesui respectively met and held talks with Prime Minister Komi Sélom Klassou and Foreign Minister Robert Dussey of Togo.
