Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun Meets with Press Delegation from Malawi

On June 23, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met with a press delegation from Malawi headed by the deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education of Malawi. Zhai made positive comments on the sound progress of friendly cooperation in all areas since the establishment of diplomatic ties half a year ago, expressing China's willingness to work with Malawi to push for sound, stable and steady development of bilateral ties. Zhai also briefed on China-Africa relations, China's Africa policy and its current domestic situation.

The Malawi side noted that the people of Malawi support the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries and are sincerely thankful for China's assistance. The purpose of the delegation's visit is to learn from China's successful experience in development. They pledged to introduce to the Malawi people what they have seen and heard in China after returning home and play a positive role in promoting China-Malawi friendship and cooperation.
