Ambassador for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhou Yuxiao Visits Malawi

From June 23 to 24, 2017, Ambassador for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhou Yuxiao visited Malawi and met with Foreign Minister Francis Kasalia of Malawi and exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common concern. H.E. Wang Shiting, Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, was present.

Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malawi diplomatic relations. At present, the political mutual trust and friendship between the two countries have been constantly consolidated and cooperation in various fields bears fruitful results. Taking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations as an opportunity and fully implementing the outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and promoting cooperation in the "Belt and Road" construction as main lines, China is willing to work with Malawi to further promote bilateral exchanges, strengthen cooperation in various fields, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results as well as common development and better benefit the two peoples.

Francis Kasalia said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 10 years ago, bilateral relations have made continuous new progress. Malawi thanks China for its long-term positive contributions to the development of the economy and people's livelihood of Malawi. Malawi cherishes the friendship between the two countries and will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and is willing to make joint efforts with China to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in investment, electricity and agriculture and other fields so as to push forward the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries for constant development.
