Foreign Leaders Extend Congratulations to Chinese New Leadership

On March 20, 2018, some state leaders and principals of international organizations successively sent telegrams and messages to Xi Jinping, warmly congratulating him on his election as President of the People's Republic of China.

President Maithripala Sirisena of Sri Lanka expressed that he was glad to hear that Xi Jinping was elected as President of China. Maithripala Sirisena would like to extend warm congratulations to Xi Jinping. It is believed that under Xi Jinping's wise leadership, Sri Lanka and China will proceed with firm confidence in cooperation, and push forward bilateral relations for all-round development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India expressed that India and China are two major countries with the largest population in the world. Maintaining the sound and stable development of India-China relations is of great importance to the peace, development and prosperity for all mankind. Narendra Modi expects to, together with Xi Jinping, jointly elevate bilateral relations to higher levels on the basis of the important consensus reached during their meeting in Xiamen last September.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand expressed that Xi Jinping's election as President of China by a unanimous vote fully manifests that his outstanding leading ability has won absolute trust. Prayut Chan-o-cha believes that under Xi Jinping's wise leadership, China will continue its prosperity and development, and successfully complete the building of a great modern socialist country.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan expressed that the country attaches high importance to continuously developing Turkmenistan-China cooperation which is built on the basis of the principle featuring equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov firmly believes that under Xi Jinping's wise and visionary leadership, China will score greater achievements, and bilateral relations will reach higher levels.

President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine expressed that Xi Jinping's election convincingly manifests that he enjoys the highest level of trust. Xi Jinping's extraordinary leading ability, professional competence and charisma have won high recognition.

President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa expressed that Xi Jinping's election is the Chinese people's vote of confidence for his outstanding leading ability. Cyril Ramaphosa believes that under Xi Jinping's wise leadership, China will become a leading country with positive influence on the world. The South African side believes that the cooperation between the two countries will be further expanded and deepened, and bilateral relations will be better in the future.

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria expressed that over the past five years, Xi Jinping has led the Chinese people to make significant achievements in various fields. Xi Jinping's election is a full recognition of his political wisdom, foresight and sagacity. Abdelaziz Bouteflika believes that under Xi Jinping's wise leadership, the Chinese people will certainly make greater achievements on the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era.

President Macky Sall of Senegal expressed that the country is extremely happy that Xi Jinping was elected as President of China. Macky Sall will continue working together with Xi Jinping to promote the priority relations featuring goodwill and friendship as well as vigorous and diversified cooperation between the two countries for constant and forward-looking development.

President Mulatu Teshome of Ethiopia sincerely congratulated Xi Jinping on his election as President of China. Mulatu Teshome believes that under Xi Jinping's leadership, China will continuously score greater achievements in realizing economic development and scientific and technological progress, and make greater contributions to world peace and development.

King Philippe of Belgium expressed that on the occasion of Xi Jinping's election as President of China, he would like to extend warm congratulations to Xi Jinping. Under Xi Jinping's personal care, Belgium-China friendly relations have moved forward constantly. King Philippe firmly believes that thanks to Belgium-China mutual trust and profound friendship, bilateral political, economic and trade relations as well as exchanges between the two peoples will be further deepened.

President Tabare Vazquez of Uruguay expressed that he was glad to learn that Xi Jinping was elected as President of China by a unanimous vote. Tabare Vazquez would like to extend his warmest congratulations to Xi Jinping. He firmly believes that Uruguay-China friendly relations will be further deepened, bringing greater well-being to the peoples of the two countries.

Governor General Dame Cecile La Grenade of Grenada expressed that she believed that Xi Jinping's election will bring more well-being to the Chinese people and the people of the world at large, be conducive to further enhancing mutual respect and understanding between Grenada and China, and deepen the friendship between the two peoples.

President Tallis Obed Moses of Vanuatu expressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vanuatu and China, China has always been the closest partner and friend of Vanuatu. Xi Jinping's election brings hope for stability and prosperity to Vanuatu and the world.
