Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao Meets with President of the Democratic Rally of Cyprus

On August 21, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met with Nikos Anastasiades, visiting president of Cyprus' ruling Democratic Rally party.

Song said that China and Cyprus enjoy sound relations with increasing political mutual trust and expanding cooperation in various fields. China encourages its competent enterprises to carry out various forms of cooperation in Cyprus. As Cyprus is rich in tourism resources, both sides can expand two-way travel to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. He hoped that the Democratic Rally party will play an active role in promoting the development of China-Cyprus relations.

Anastasiades said Cyprus and China have supported each other and expanded economic and trade exchanges. Cyprus hopes to develop cooperation with China in energy and other areas in the future. Tourism is an important industry in Cyprus, he said, adding his country is willing to design suitable tourism products to attract more Chinese tourists. The Democratic Rally party is willing to endeavor to push forward bilateral relations.
