On December 14, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing attended upon invitation the reception marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cyprus diplomatic relationship and the 56th anniversary of the National Day of Cyprus held by the Cypriot Embassy in China. He exchanged views with Cypriot Ambassador to China Agis Loizou on China-Cyprus relations and topics of common concern. They also jointly inaugurated the issue of the commemorative envelopes marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cyprus diplomatic relationship
