Xi Jinping Meets with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus

On June 10, 2018, President Xi Jinping met in Qingdao with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus.

Xi Jinping pointed out that under the joint efforts of both sides, China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership has entered a new stage featuring mutual trust and win-win cooperation. The cooperation consensus reached by Mr. President and me has been effectively implemented, and bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all fields and at all levels have reached the highest level in history. The sense of gain brought by sharing of cooperation outcomes between the two peoples has been increasingly enhanced.

Xi Jinping stressed that China views Belarus as an important cooperation partner of the joint construction of the Belt and Road, and appreciates its active participation. Over the past few years, the cooperation between China and Belarus in the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” has made comprehensive efforts, made multi-point breakthroughs, enjoyed in-depth advancement, and achieved remarkable results. Both sides should make consistent efforts and strive to bring more cooperation outcomes to benefit the people so as to achieve win-win development. Both sides should enhance strategic integration and policy communication, deepen cooperation in economy, trade and investment, and promote the construction of the China-Belarus industrial park. Both sides should ensure that relevant cooperation projects will achieve due economic and social benefits, promote personnel exchanges, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. China supports Belarus in participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) cooperation, and working with all parties to create more well-being for countries and peoples in the region.

Alexander Lukashenko congratulated President Xi Jinping on successfully chairing the SCO Qingdao Summit, and stressed that the excellence of the Qingdao Summit and the spirit of equality and democracy embodied in China's hosting process of the Summit were admirable. Belarus and China are all-weather partners and friends, and always support each other on major issues of common concern. Belarus firmly supports and actively participates in the “Belt and Road” initiative, and stands ready to constantly deepen exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields with China.

After the meeting, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of relevant bilateral cooperation documents.

Ding Xuexiang, Yang Jiechi, Wang Yi, He Lifeng and others attended the meeting.
