Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov of Bulgaria Jointly Meet the Press

2018-07-06 16:24

On the morning of July 6, 2018 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov of Bulgaria jointly met the press in Sofia.

Leaders of the two countries spoke positively of the outcomes of their talks. When talking about the issues such as protecting multilateralism and free trade, opposing protectionism, and curbing trade frictions, Li Keqiang noted that China never initiates trade disputes, let alone provoking a trade war. However, if the other side provokes a trade war by imposing additional tariffs, China will definitely take countermeasures. And that is to defend not only China's development interests but also the rules of the World Trade Organization. There is no winner in a trade war. It will not only hurt the enterprises and customers from both countries, but also influence the process of global economic recovery. If someone persists in doing so, it will only end up harming itself and others. No matter how the external situation changes, China will firmly stick to deepening reform and expanding opening up, and handle well its own business, in a bid to keep the stable and sound development of China's economy.
