Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković of Croatia

On the afternoon of July 6, 2018 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the hotel where he stayed in Sofia with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković of Croatia.

Li Keqiang expressed that China-Croatia relations witness sound development, with encouraging outcomes from practical cooperation. China is willing to intensify high-level exchanges and cooperation in various areas with Croatia to promote China-Croatia relations for constant and new development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that Chinese enterprises have won the bidding and contracted to build the Pelješac Bridge in Croatia, marking that both sides have made a breakthrough in cooperation in major projects. It is hoped that the two countries will keep making efforts to jointly forge an example project between China and Croatia and even between China and Europe. China is willing to continue to combine the needs of Croatia to support its own enterprises in participating in the construction of ports, railways, and other transportation infrastructures in Croatia in accordance with the laws and regulations of the European Union and market principles. It is hoped that both sides will continue to give play to the role of small and medium-sized enterprises of the two countries, so as to open up new paths and forge new support for cooperation between China and Croatia and even between China and Central and Eastern European countries. China is willing to continue to enhance tourism cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges with Croatia.

Andrej Plenković expressed that at present, practical cooperation between Croatia and China has achieved new progress. Croatia hopes to take the bidding and construction of the Pelješac Bridge attained by Chinese enterprises as the opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction and connectivity. China is welcome to make investment in Croatia. The country is willing to continue to enhance cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises. It is hoped that both sides will strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and expand two-way tourism. The Croatian side is also ready to play a positive role in the development of Europe-China relations.
