Li Keqiang Meets with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic of Croatia

On the afternoon of April 10, 2019 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic of Croatia at the presidential palace in Zagreb.

Li Keqiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, and expressed that China and Croatia always stick to treating each other equally with mutual respect based on mutual benefit and win-win results, and bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development. China appreciates that Ms. President pays great attention to the development of China-Croatia relations. China-Croatia cooperation is equal, open and inclusive, with huge development potential. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Three Seas Initiative of the Croatian side, and constantly deepen bilateral practical cooperation in all areas.

Li Keqiang pointed out that on infrastructure cooperation with member states of the European Union (EU), China will stick to open tendering and ensure projects being completed with high quality in compliance with the EU standards and regulations, and strive for mutual benefit and win-win and all-win results. An important consensus reached in the just-concluded 21st China-EU Leaders' Meeting is that investment should be open to both sides and non-discriminative, which should be followed in the China-EU cooperation.

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said that Croatia and China share a profound traditional friendship and amicable bilateral relations. The two countries have no conflict of interests and have broad prospect for cooperation in areas including economy, trade, investment and culture. Premier Li Keqiang's visit this time has achieved fruitful results and injected new impetus into the development of Croatia-China relations. The Croatian side welcomes Chinese companies to invest in Croatia and carry out port cooperation, and the Croatian side will not discriminate any enterprise of any country. The project of the Peljesac Bridge is a symbol of friendship between the two peoples, and it is a large-scale infrastructure project constructed in an EU country by a Chinese company through open tendering and in compliance with EU laws and standards. The project will bring a huge convenience to local people. It has shown the capabilities of Chinese companies and also set up a new model for bilateral cooperation. It is believed that the project will deliver positive demonstration effect. The Croatian side is willing to better align the Three Seas Initiative with the Chinese side's Belt and Road Initiative as well as the 16+1 cooperation to promote Croatia-China and EU-China practical cooperation to achieve new development.
