On March 18, 2010, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying held political consultations with Andris Teikmanis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.
Fu made positive comments on the development of bilateral ties in recent years, saying that China deems Latvia an important partner in the Baltic Sea region and appreciates the Latvian government’s adherence to the one-China policy. China is ready to work with Latvia to push forward bilateral ties.
Teikmanis emphasized that the Latvian government attaches importance to developing ties with China and regards it as a reliable friend. Latvia is ready to continue enhancing friendly relations with China in all areas and expand economic and trade cooperation to push the ties to a new level.
Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
