Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao Meets with Latvia's Foreign Ministry State Secretary

On September 1, 2013, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met in Beijing with Latvia's Foreign Ministry State Secretary and Latvia's coordinator for China-Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) Cooperation Andrejs Pildegovičs, who was in China attending the China-Eurasia Expo.

Song Tao spoke highly of the current China-Latvia relations, saying that the two sides should maintain high-level exchanges as well as exchanges at other levels, focus on developing cooperation potentials in investment, infrastructure and agriculture and push for new progress in bilateral ties. China-CEE Cooperation is making smooth progress. China would like to work with Central and Eastern European countries to jointly explore new forms, new contents and new measures of cooperation and promote the comprehensive and balanced development of China-Europe relations.

For his part, Pildegovičs said Latvia-China relations enjoy a sound foundation and rapid development. Latvia is willing to join hands with China to push for more fruitful results in bilateral ties. Latvia attaches great importance to China-CEE Cooperation and will continue to take an active part in the various activities and events so as to continuously deepen cooperation.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on the situation in Syria.
