Li Keqiang Meets with Solvita Aboltina, Chairperson of the Parliament of Latvia

On the afternoon of May 27, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with Solvita Aboltina, Chairperson of the Parliament of Latvia at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Li Keqiang expressed that the current China-Latvia relations are thriving and robust. The Chinese side is prepared to consolidate political mutual trust with the Latvian side, to expand cooperation in various fields and to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges on the basis of mutual respect, so as to make the two countries good friends of equality and mutual trust and good partners of mutual benefit and win-win results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China boasts a huge market and equipments with sound cost-performance. The Chinese side is willing to deepen cooperation with the Latvian side in fields like infrastructure construction, economy and trade, agriculture and energy, and to actively participate in the joint construction of Baltic railways. He hoped that the Latvian side will continue to support China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) cooperation and expected that Latvian parliament will continue to play a positive and constructive role in promoting the negotiations of the China-EU Investment Agreement, in launching the feasibility study of China-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in good time, and in facilitating exchanges of the two peoples and so on.

Aboltina said that Latvia-China relations enjoy a good foundation and the bilateral cooperation has broad prospects. The Latvian side is looking forward to strengthening cooperation with China in various fields such as politics, economy and trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, and infrastructure construction. Latvia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Latvia and is willing to make efforts to promote CEEC-China cooperation and the development of Europe-China relations.
