Adamkus said that he had been following the rapid development of China with strong interests and would like to congratulate China upon its great achievements. For many years, Lithuania-China relations have maintained a sound growing momentum. There are no different opinions between Lithuania and China. Both sides have carried out good cooperation in international affairs. He hoped that the countries could seize the opportunity of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, which will be next year, to push bilateral relations to a higher level with greater eagerness in a bid to benefit the two peoples. The two countries should strengthen economic and trade cooperation. Lithuania is willing to create a better environment for Chinese enterprises to invest and start their business in Lithuania. The Chinese side could make full use of Lithuania's free trade zones and seaports. As a member of the European Union (EU), Lithuania would like to strengthen the cooperation with the Chinese side within the framework of EU.

Brazauskas said that his visit to China in 1993 left him with beautiful memories. Lithuania is delighted to see China plays a bigger role in international affairs.

Li said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Lithuania, bilateral relations have been growing steadily. The exchanges between the leaders at all levels are frequent. Bilateral trade volume keeps rising. Lithuania has become the largest trading partner of China in the Baltic region. The cooperation in such fields as culture, education, and sports gets more and more active. The non-governmental exchanges and local cooperation are showing a pleasing momentum. The Lithuanian governments have followed the one-China policy all along and support the grand cause of China's reunification, for which China feels admiring and grateful. China is willing to work with Lithuania to push bilateral relations to a new stage.

Li said that China will as always follow the path of peaceful development and China's development will provide more opportunities for Lithuania and other countries in the world.
