On November 14, 2006, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with new Lithuanian Ambassador to China Rokas Bernotas. Li welcomed Bernotas to assume his new office in China.

Bernotas said since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 15 years ago, bilateral ties have been developing steadily with the deepening exchanges and cooperation in all areas. He promised to make unremitting efforts in his tenure of office for the development of bilateral ties.

Li spoke highly of the status quo of the development of bilateral ties, expressing willingness to make joint efforts with Lithuania to push bilateral ties to a higher level.
