On 22 October 2013, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met with the delegation of the Lithuania-China Friendship Group of the Lithuanian Parliament headed by Algirdas Sysas, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Lithuania. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, China-CEE cooperation and China-EU relations.

Song Tao expressed that China cherishes the traditional friendship with Lithuania and hopes that both sides will, based on the spirit of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, accommodate each other's core concerns, enhance political mutual trust and expand cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, scien-tech, tourism and culture. China-CEE cooperation is in the ascendant and increasingly shows vitality and attractiveness. The Lithuanian side is welcomed to continue to actively join in the cooperation.

Sysas stressed that the Lithuania-China Friendship Group will continue to play a positive role in the Lithuanian Parliament and society and be committed to promoting Lithuania-China friendly relations and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields. Lithuania attaches great importance to and is ready to actively join in China-CEE cooperation. Lithuania is ready to make efforts for pushing for sustained and stable development of EU-China relations.
