Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Linas Antanas Linkevicius of Lithuania

On February 22, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Linas Antanas Linkevicius of Lithuania in New York.

Wang Yi said that with the joint efforts, China-Lithuania relationship has returned to a track of healthy development not long ago. China hopes that Lithuania could adhere to the One-China policy to well maintain the big picture of bilateral relationship. China would like to push forward China-Lithuania cooperation at bilateral, China-Central and Eastern Europe and China-EU levels on the basis of mutual respect.

Linkevicius said that he is very glad that bilateral relationship has returned to the normal track. He would like to reaffirm that Lithuania adheres to the One-China policy and will properly handle relevant sensitive issues. Lithuania values the cooperation with China, its largest trading partner in Asia, and hopes to further tap the potential and expand cooperation in various fields such as investment, agriculture, technology and education. Lithuania is willing to play a positive role in promoting the cooperation between the Central and Eastern Europe and China as well as the development of EU-China relations.

Linkevicius also expressed that China's initiative to convene the UN Security Council open debate is very timely and important. It is conducive to all parties to review and sum up the course since the UN's founding 70 years ago, and also beneficial to carry forward the spirit of the UN Charter. It is believed that the meeting chaired by China would be a complete success.
