China and Lithuania Hold Departmental Consultations Between the Two Foreign Ministries

On May 22, 2015, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Haixing held political consultations in Vilnius, capital of Lithuanian, with Ina Marčiulionytė, Director of the Department for Latin America, Africa, Asia and Oceania of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania, and met with Vice Foreign Minister Neris Germanas of Lithuania.

Liu Haixing expressed that the Chinese side attaches great importance to developing bilateral relations with Lithuania, and stands ready to work with the Lithuanian side to enhance political mutual trust, maintain high-level exchanges, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and deepen practical cooperation in all fields under the frameworks of cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) as well as between China and Europe, so as to promote stable and sound development of the China-Lithuania relations.

The Lithuanian side expressed that it expects to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields such as politics, economy and trade, transportation, culture, education, science and technology, actively support and participate in CEEC-China cooperation and play an active promoting role in developing Europe-China relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on topics such as reform of the UN Security Council, situation in Asia, the Ukrainian issue and the South China Sea issue. H.E. Wei Ruixing, Chinese Ambassador to Lithuania, attended the above-mentioned activities.
