Vice Premier Hui Liangyu Meets with Slovak Prime Minister Fico

On February 15, 2013, Vice Premier Hui Liangyu, who is on an official visit to Slovakia, met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and held talks with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak.

Hui made positive comments on bilateral ties, saying that China attaches great importance to developing ties with Slovakia, and it is China's firm policy to further develop friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. As next year will mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, he said, China wishes to work with Slovakia in actively exploring new ideas, tapping the potential of cooperation in various fields and translating sound political relations and cooperation potential into concrete results to benefit the two peoples.

Hui said China actively supported the European Union's efforts in dealing with the sovereign debt crisis, and has provided Europe with assistance within its own capacity. China hopes to give new impetus to overall China-Europe cooperation by promoting the China- Central and Eastern Europe cooperation.

A sound and stable Chinese economy is conducive to the European economy and the world economy at large, said Fico, adding that Slovakia is ready to work with China and take the 65th anniversary as an opportunity to enhance their political, economic, trade, scientific, technological, agricultural and cultural exchanges and cooperation. The prime minister said that Slovakia wishes to promote the mutual investment.

During the visit, Hui also attended a welcoming banquet held by the Slovak First Deputy Prime Minister and witnessed the signing of documents on deepening agricultural cooperation and on promotion of cooperation of small and medium enterprises between the two countries.
