Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia

On February 4, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia, who was in China for an official visit.

Wang Yi said that your visit coincides with the Beginning of Spring in the traditional Chinese calendar. The spring, as a season for sowing seeds, breeds vitality and hopes. It is believed that this year will be a harvest year for China-Slovakia relationship. Wang Yi said that China and Slovakia enjoy traditional friendship. At present, the bilateral relations have been in a new development stage. The facts have proven that sound mutual political trust serves as the precondition for a sound and stable development of bilateral relations. China attaches importance to China-Slovakia relations and stands ready to work with Slovakia to treat each other as equals, respect each other’s core interests and concerns, constantly intensify mutual political trust, further boost bilateral exchanges at various levels, earnestly push forward two-way investment, and strengthen practical cooperation in such fields as energy and infrastructure, so as to push China-Slovakia relations, the cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries and China-Europe relations for greater development.

Miroslav Lajčák said that the Slovakian government regards China as important cooperative partner and reliable friend, and will firmly stick to the One China policy and respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Slovakia is willing to further tap potentials, deepen cooperation with China, actively participate in cooperation between the Central and Eastern European countries and China and make new contributions to the development of Europe-China relationship.

Both sides also exchanged views on international topics of common interest.
