On July 10, 2019 local time, President Zuzana Caputova of Slovakia met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Bratislava.

Zuzana Caputova asked Wang Yi to convey her warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. Zuzana Caputova said, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi is the first foreign guest I meet officially after I took office as President, which reflects the importance the Slovak side attaches to Slovakia-China relations. The Slovak side admires the huge development achievements China has scored, firmly adheres to the one-China principle and respects China's sovereignty. As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries, the Slovak side is willing to deepen practical cooperation in various fields on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment. The Chinese side is welcome to expand its investments in Slovakia. Speaking highly of the contributions the Chinese side has made to environmental protection and carbon emission reduction, and the Slovak side stands ready to work with the Chinese side to tackle global challenges including climate change.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's sincere greetings to Zuzana Caputova. Wang Yi said, my visit this time is aimed to carry forward friendship, restore trust and seek cooperation. China-Slovakia relations are facing important opportunities of inheriting the past and ushering in the future. We are willing to make joint efforts with the Slovak side to grasp the right direction of the development of bilateral relations, strengthen high-level exchanges between the two countries, consolidate political mutual trust, and respect and give consideration to each other's core interests and major concerns. The Slovak side is welcome to actively participate in the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries, and to share China's opening up and development opportunities. The Chinese side values the Slovak side's unique role in the European Union (EU), and is willing to strengthen communication and dialogue with the Slovak side to promote the healthy development of China-EU relations, and stay committed to jointly boosting world multi-polarization and democratization in international relations and pushing for a more open, inclusive, and win-win globalization.

On the same day, Wang Yi also held talks with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák of Slovakia.
